The new way of marketing

Oh how I love the web and all its infinite possibilities. I also love how the Internet is transforming our lives, causing a digital revolution right before our very eyes. We're part of an exciting generation and it's having a huge impact on everything we do.

When it comes to marketing, it's changed so much that people are struggling to keep up. A 'new way of marketing' has happened almost overnight and I blame most of it on a whole generation of people who grew up with technology and the introduction of the Internet.

But what is this new way of marketing? Well it's certainly a less aggressive approach. And it's definitely more subtle and requires a little more love and attention. Gone are the days when you could simply fire out any old marketing message through one-way communication.

These days you really have to build a relationship with your customers. You have to make them fall in love with your brand and your company. How do you do that? You embrace the Internet and all its wonderful features, including social media. That's how.

You get involved with two-way conversation. You actually interact with your customers. Ask them for feedback, respond to their queries and enjoy being part of the Web 2.0 world that is such a huge part of our daily lives.

But you have to do it sincerely. And you can't use what you'd normally have for marketing. Traditional marketing is traditional for a reason. You can't be a dinosaur! You have to get to grips with the 'new way of marketing' in order to take your business forward.

And if you don't? If you think all this social media business is just a fad and will eventually fade away? Then you'll only get left behind. Because social media is just people interacting and talking across the web. It offers huge opportunities and it isn't going anywhere - it's only growing massively each and every day - so pull up your socks and learn the new way of marketing. You really have nothing to lose!
