  1. Gaining a strong Google PageRank

This morning, we woke up to the fantastic news that Boomerang has finally, after months of waiting, secured a Google PageRank of five out of 10. Why are we so excited? Because a ranking of 'five' in the eyes of Google is pretty damn good, that's why. But why's it good? And why does it even matter? Well it's not completely and utterly essential...

  2. Why big isn't necessarily better

As consumers, when we're browsing around for a new product, say for example a washing machine, we often go for the most expensive option. Why? Because we know that cheaper washing machines are likely to break more easily and not last as long. Experience has told us this. But as business owners, searching for services such as PR and marketing, the same rule doesn't apply. Because a larger, more established and therefore costly PR agency will do exactly the same job as a smaller firm like Boomerang except the only difference will be the price...

  3. Think before you tweet

Just like your mother used to say 'Think before you speak!', the same rule applies to the Twitterverse. Whenever you're using the micro-blogging site, always consider how your tweet will come across, the messages you'll be putting out there and how they will be perceived. Being rude in business gets you nowhere. Losing your patience, being short with someone or getting angry is just downright stupid. We all have our 'off' days but there's no room to be rude in business, no matter how badly your day is going. Being patient, polite and friendly is the best way forward. It sounds obvious but you'd be surprised how many people overlook this simple etiquette...

  5. What about the competition?

It's a funny old business world sometimes. Companies being wary of one another, keeping an eye on what their competition is doing and always worrying about getting left behind. Particularly in this uncertain economic period and age of austerity, you can understand why 'the competition' is always niggling at the back of some business owner's minds. At Boomerang, we don't worry about the competition. Not because we're arrogant - far from it! But because we know that we can't control the competition and we certainly can't control what potential customers will do...

  6. Triple win for Boomerang

It's been a bumper week for Boomerang as we've been appointed by two local firms to develop new websites while a London software firm has appointed us to provide PR and marketing. We've just won the account to design and build a new website for Adept Vehicle Solutions, a vehicle and asset finance company based in Stoke-on-Trent...
